A CPTracer2 probe implements an ownership mechanism to manage whether a debugger or an application entity has exclusive control over its memory mapped resources. The identity of the requesting entity is determined by how the access was generated. A CPU-initiated access is always considered to be initiated by an application entity. The initiating entity for the debug tools is identified via an in-band bus qualifier whose state is typically first set by the master that originated the request. Probe ownership mechanism can be accessed via a dedicated ownership control and status register.
