The objective of the Real-Time Clock Sub-System (RTCSS or RTC) is to provide a time counter that has accurate timekeeping at a sub-second granularity. With IP integration support to provide a battery-backed voltage domain, this time counter is persistent from one device standby until the next power-on.
DIG_ON is the same as battery-backed domain, or the always ON domain.
DIG_CORE is the CORE domain which powers off and on while the ON domain remains ON.
The major design problems that this subsystem needs to solve are:
When this subsystem is integrated with Analog IP support, including the battery-backed always-on voltage domain, this subsystem also needs to address these problems:
Additionally, RTC provides interrupts that are triggered when the time counter reaches a particular time. These can be used to trigger an SoC wakeup in the case of the OFF_ON event or to trigger an SoC low-power transition in the case of the ON_OFF event.
