The BQ40Z50-R5 device can slope the value changes from one range to another to avoid jumping between different current ranges. Setting the Current Rate to 1 disables this feature because the ChargingCurrent() changes in one step. The gauge will not do any current stepping if Current Rate is set to 1.
The host needs to read ChargingCurrent() at least once a second during charging to adjust the charger accordingly.
