5.2.5 Flash and RAM Security

All LSx RAMs and Flash sectors can be secured by Zone 1 or Zone 2 on this device. Each Flash sector or RAM block can be allocated to either zone by configuring the respective ZxOTP_GRABSECTx (Flash sector zone allocation) or ZxOTP_GRABRAMx (RAM zone allocation) locations in the USER OTP.

Note: Flash sector and RAM block zone allocation granularity of the ZxOTP_GRABSECTx and ZxOTP_GRABRAMx registers can be determined by inspecting the Zx_GRABSECTxR/Zx_GRABRAMxR status registers.

The possible bit values for the ZxOTP_GRABSECTx/ZxOTP_GRABRAMx are the following:

  • 00: Invalid, sector/block is inaccessible to all access types (blocked)
  • 01: Sector/block is allocated to respective zone (secured)
  • 10: Sector/block is not allocated to the zone (unsecure)
  • 11: Default, sector/block is inaccessible to all access types (blocked) if respective zone is locked. Otherwise, sector/block not allocated to the zone (unsecure).

Table 5-3 shows the security state of a RAM block and Flash sector based on the configuration in the ZxOTP_GRABRAMx and ZxOTP_GRABSECTx register.

CAUTION: Never program any other values than below in the ZxOTP_GRABRAMx and ZxOTP_GRABSECTx fields. Failing any of these conditions for a RAM block/Flash sector makes that RAM block/Flash sector inaccessible.
