The UFS protocol elements are organized as request/response packets and act as the glue between different layers of the UFS protocol stack. The UFS specification defines the UFS Protocol Information Unit (UPIU) as the packet type which is used as request/response packet between the different layers. While UPIUs are exchanged between several layers, two distinct communication levels are important:
Currently, UFS is using the MIPI UniPro Protocol and the corresponding M-PHY as the Service Delivery Subsystem. The UPIU packets will be handed off to the MIPI UniPro as UniPro Service Data (T_SDU) without modification.
