Another method to determine when new data are ready is to count ADC main clock cycles, because each conversion requires a deterministic amount of clock cycles. This method is only possible when using an external clock because the internal clock oscillator is not observable. When the sequencer selects a new sequence step for conversion, the number of clock cycles required for the first conversion to complete is larger compared to the clock cycles required for all following conversions of this sequence step.
