In this method, the internal DAC output is used to set a known voltage on the ADC input channel (this setting can be on a shared pin between the ADC and DAC outputs or on an external loopback from DAC to ADC). The other parameters of the ADC are set up similar to the actual application, for example, the sampling time, reference sources, and sequencer modes. A software trigger can be used to trigger the ADC. The output of the ADC can be compared against the expected range. The test can include multiple samples to check the various features of the ADC that are in use in the application context (for example, averaging, check for offset errors, and so forth).
