Register Maps

The INA230 uses a bank of registers for holding configuration settings, measurement results, minimum and maximum limits, and status information. Table 8-3 summarizes the INA230 registers; refer to the Section 8.2 for an illustration of the registers.

All 16-bit INA230 registers are two 8-bit bytes through the I2C interface.

Table 8-3 Summary of Register Set

03Power(2)Contains the value of the calculated power being delivered to the load.00000000 000000000000R
04Current(2)Contains the value of the calculated current flowing through the shunt resistor.00000000 000000000000R
05CalibrationSets full-scale range and LSB of current and power measurements. Overall system calibration.00000000 000000000000R/ W
06Mask/EnableAlert configuration and conversion ready flag00000000 000000000000R/ W
07Alert LimitContains the limit value to compare to the selected alert function.00000000 000000000000R/ W
FFDie IDContains unique die identification number.ASCIIASCIIR
Type: R = read-only, R/ W = read/write.
The Current register defaults to '0' because the Calibration register defaults to '0', yielding a zero current and power value until the Calibration register is programmed.
