The voltage at either the input or common mode can not be allowed to negative by more that 0.3V. The upper end of the common-mode voltage range is VCC+ – 1.5V; however, one input can exceed VCC, and the comparator can provide a proper output state as long as the other input remains in the common-mode range. Either or both inputs can go to 30V without damage.
