Engine management sensors monitor various engine functions to help decrease emissions, increase fuel economy and boost engine efficiency. Sensors include:
Pressure – MAP, BAP, emission control (particulate filter pressure), OWS and tire pressure
Fluid Concentration / Quality – measures make up and quality of fluids like fuel, oil and adblue
Position – measures location of valve flaps, camshafts, crankshafts, and even fluid level. Can be angular, rotary, or linear measurements
Temperature – measures temperature of air, liquid, exhaust gas for under/over temp detection, thermal loop control, or temp drift compensation
Exhaust – Different types of sensors that measure exhaust by products including soot / particulate matter, NOx, lambda/oxygen, ammonia
Knock – Detects engine knock (detonation) which occurs when combustion of air/fuel in cylinder happens without spark plug
Mass Air Flow – Measures mass flow rate of air entering fuel injected internal combustion engine
